Hart, Zabaleta, Clichy, Kompany (C), Otamendi, Fernando, Fernandinho, Navas, Silva, Sterling, Aguero

Subs: Caballero, Sagna, Demichelis, Kolarov, Bony, Iheanacho, Mangala

Ludo

Probably as good a team as we could have expected.

Neil Mcnab

We cant seem to string a pass together. Strong wind - against us this half not helping.

Neil Mcnab

Silva is playing especially poorly for the great player he is.

Yaya makes us tick in midfield. A lot of his balls seem simple but he always finds a City man and the moves flow. That much was clear in a home game when he came on as sub a while ago. I don't really fancy us to come back from this tonight or this season.

Joe must hold his hands up for the first though I thought it might have took a deflection. I'm sure the second could have been defended better but it was a good football goal.

Very frustrating indeed.

First half fecked, can we improve with the wind behind us? Or are we just farting about

Neil Mcnab

Mother of all team talks. Its either challenging for the top or struggling for fourth spot.

Swiss

We've carried on from midweek: except we've not created any good opportunities.

Can't pass
Can't hold the ball
Not tracking the midfield runners, double shocking cause we're playing two DM's
Speaking of which, that's causing a big gap with no real CM support in attack

Liverpool's passing is crisper and team movement so much better.
Their pressing game (constantly 3 people closing the ball) should see us exploit the pace, however our movement is so poor that we're not making ourselves available for the pass (or we just pass to lfc).

Yep, def missing a Yaya midfielder in the middle today.

Fernandinho off??

WHAT...THE....FUCK.!?!?

Ludo

I give up.

The two worst players on the pitch are Silva and Otamendi but we replace Sterling and Fernandinho. How does that work?

Hesperus

I'm glad he won the cup on Sunday but he's has ruined this team. Conceding this many goals is just unforgivable.

I doubt very much we'll make the top 4.  Which considering the standard of the league this season, just shows how poor a team we've become.

gavin

I'm normally all for attacking substitutions but it just seems his ploy was stick three strikers on with no thought of how to get the ball to play to them. It has just made a bad situation worse.

Ludo

I said we look like a pub team.

We don't.

It's worse.

We look like Villa.

There is no worst player. Today they are all equally as shit

Swiss

This is painful to watch, not because we're losing, nor to the bin dippers... but the way in which we have played.

KunDB

Only a few weeks back these players were bumming and blowing about doing the quad, omg how I laughed then cried. They are delusional. Twice Liverpool have stuffed us and one draw. Whose the better side?

Ludo

We lose, Asre lose, Spuds lose.

Leicester must be laughing their bollox off.

Swiss

KunDB

Same points as Utd omg what excuse have these players? Struggling for a top 4 place. I'm going to lie down.

Ludo

Maybe a year out of Europe will do us good.

Worse than that, the Europa league.

We were a disgrace, an abject performance. If the charming man was not already going, he would surely have been binned off anyway. He cant set up a team to deal with a high press. Clueless.

Its a battle for the top four and we dont appear to have the appetite of our opposition. We are complacent, believing we are entitled to a top four place. Memories are very short to where we have come from.

I wonder if Pep is having second thoughts. He is really going to earn his money.

Neil Mcnab

The other thing is we are becoming as hated as the sh$t in Liverpool. The chip on the shoulder has extended to us and they up their game.

KunDB

Liverpool 8 City 2

Our cumulative score for this season. Embarrassed, bet our players aren't!

Hate saying this but there are too many big softies and well off comfortable players.

I was a bit taken aback by our over celebration of the 4th best trophy. Not winning the PL either last season or this season is a mega failure for a squad of this depth and quality.

I don't want us to be out of the champ league

Tricky Trev

People talking about the comeback, going for the title. Every fucking result goes our way, what does fucking city do? Another pathetic effort. 7-1 against liverpool in the league? Better watch out for the neighbors that once again have crept right behind us. Godamnit city, and ffs pelle. Why do you NEVER fucking learn? fucking stupid fluke league cup makes pelle look ok.

clevblue

That performance was just fucking weird, it was a nightmare

How can they possibly excuse THAT??

James Milner was just about the best player on the pitch.

Let's just think about that for a moment...

What does that say about our squad development over the last two years?

KunDB

The passing and moving under Mancini has gradually disappeared under Pelle.

We can excel at times and do but more often than not we play at 70% and poorly in the PL. an ingrained habit under Pelle.

zacc

team looked ragged as well as a team with some staying but many not or not sure if staying!!

Hesperus

We're 16th in the form table for the last 6 games and 11th for the last ten. We've still got to play rags, Spurs and Arsenal.

We've got our work cut out for 4th.

What pisses me off is Pelle making excuses. The players are tired, they have played 3 games in 8 days. Really, let the lazy gits try playing in the Championship. If they were tired I have to presume we will lose to Villa Saturday then as 4 games in 11 days will be a step too far.

No excuses the players let the club and it's fans down.

Swiss

What did you think of Sterling? I think it was a bit of a mistake to take him off. Seen all the media of Flannagan having him in his pocket... bit over blown really as Sterling was winning free kicks and got in a couple of half decent crosses.

My thoughts as well. He was doing all right and I wasn't happy when he was pulled at half time. But then - Pellegrini completely lost the plot with his substitutions in this game.

Pelle backs him to the hilt before game then pulls him off at half time and he was far from being the poorest player. Awful man management.

gavin

The he put Iheanacho out on the left.....

Swiss

Could be more damaging to his morale taking him off than leaving him on!

Kolarov would have been a better option to stick on the left wing if replacing Sterling and I'd still like to see Nacho ahead of Bony.

What we lacked on the bench was an option to change the CM which was not competing:
Subs: Caballero, Sagna, Demichelis, Kolarov, Bony, Iheanacho, Mangala

Which was my reasoning for the other thread about sticking Ota in CM and bringing on one of the other CB's. At least Ota would bring energy and fight to the middle. Prob would have been sent off though  :faint:

Physio room has us listed with 4 injuries, no surprises with Delph, KDB, Nasri (Return in APR) and Yaya listed as a return today. 3 first teamers and Nasri who, on his day, is a tricky bugger who can create something out of nothing.

All - absolutely spot on.

Swiss

I don't understand why we didn't have one of the kid cm's that played against chelsea on the bench. Which further annoys me that Pellers never gives the kids a chance and if he'd stayed, prob never would have.

Manu Garcia would have been a decent choice.

I'm never keen on the two Nando's together in CM.
