C'mon City. Let's show what we can do in Europe.

should be 4-0 now. Sterling's doing well though

4-0 is pushing it, even for Gav standards. We've had a couple of half chances.

Too slow. Bony isolated and not particularly good. KDB should have started instead of Nasri.

Meh.

Nasri has done quite well this season, but with a team like Juve lacking pace, we should have gone full sprint.

However, we are a second half team.

CP- 1-0 90th minute: IanNacho
Watford: 46th minute, Sterling, 56th; Fernandinho
Everton: 60th Kolarov; NAsri 88th
Chelsea: 31st Aguero; 79th Kompany; 85th Fernandinho
West Brom: 9th Silva, 24th Yaya, 59th Kompany

3 first half goals to 8 2nd

Juve have played really well. We've been too slow, given the ball away far too much. General shite.

Poor finishing cost us tonight. Sterling missed two, bony missed one. Can't afford to miss those at this level

Don't think we played too bad overall. Just missed too many chances

Not as grim as that match tonight.

Why did we buy de Bruyne if not to play in games like these, even Navas would have been a better option than Nasri who was shit. Every sodding year it's the same old crap in Europe and we never learn.

Did Caenarfon and then an 8 mile hike around a lake.

Very disappointing really. Fell to a typical Italian away performance. But we have five more matches.

Bony, in particular, needs to start producing. It is okay showing some nice turns but you have to finish too.

I didn't see the match. Why was Kompany subbed?

Seemed to be a calf strain.

In fairness everyone except Fernandinho and Hart could have been subbed.

terrible turgid game with City unable to find way through typical Italian defensive tactics!
Title: Re: City v Juve Thread
Post by: Ludo on September 16, 2015, 08:24:08
If by 'typical Italian' tactics you mean defending from the front by two forwards that ran their legs off, a midfield the covered every inch of ground and closed their men down quickly and defenders that actually defended - then I wish we could've been that typical.

What were your views on Pogba?
Title: Re: City v Juve Thread
Post by: Lekos on September 16, 2015, 11:30:23
I'm with Ludo on this; Juventus were excellent. Our play was far too slow to do anything about it.

Thought Pogba had a good game, but wouldn't give him more than a 7/10
Title: Re: City v Juve Thread
Post by: shandon on September 16, 2015, 13:21:14
Juventus were like Chelsea under Moroniho before this season - boring but effective (especially in Europe obviously). I don't think they had a shot on target until about 60 minutes in?
Title: Re: City v Juve Thread
Post by: Neil Mcnab on September 16, 2015, 14:58:10
We didnt take our chances.

Fernandino played well. Was Silva 100%? Bony seems like a player who has hardly played for 6 months, how can he be expected to be razor sharp. We were too slowwww. Nasri looks like he has already put as much effort as he is going to this season. Yayas back, back on a downward slope.

Pogba does not equal 70 million pounds or more. Morata impresses each time I have seen him play.

But he won't sit without cl success right?

To expand on the loss. It is so very disappointing, so incredibly disappointing to lose this game for a bunch of reasons. Firstly how well city have started the season and how poorly Juventus(1 fucking point out of 3 games) have started. If there ever was a good time to beat them it CERTAINLY was now. And yet again city makes it difficult for themselves in the cl, and it was  HOME. Nasri and bony the same old ineffective shit. Really frustrating to see the lack of progress again. But city rarely takes the easy road so fun times ahead.

All that and its between the English teams and the Italian teams for who will only have 3 teams in the champs league.I its England that loose the 4th place it will be city who will be blamed for loosing this game.

Who gives a toss if there is only three in the Chumps league from England. I doubt very much it will affect us - much more likely it will stop the rags getting in which I would lose no sleep over at all.

It did remind me as shandon said of Chelski  last season but hey the were EPL Champions last season.
So guess we need defensive turgid play from City to succeed 8)

Balls to that, win through attacking but we still need to be strong defensively. It did take two great finishes to beat us last night at least.
Title: Re: City v Juve Thread
Post by: Lekos on September 16, 2015, 21:11:49
Don't think they played that much like Chelsea. Juventus pressed hard all over the pitch, even up to our penalty area for 90 minutes. Chelsea get 10 men in and around the box...much more boring.

I was quite impressed by Juve and equally unimpressed by our ability to play at our league pace against them. Pelle lost the tactical battle for sure.
Title: Re: City v Juve Thread
Post by: alexsam on September 16, 2015, 21:27:46
Before Juve had a shot we could and should have been 3 up so to say they were impressive is a bit much.

When we did score we seemed to go into our shell, Sterling had a great chance to make it 2 nil but failed and the rebound was saved. That kind of did us in. We fell further back and let them have the ball too much. They equalised and then Vinny went off which left us in a mess at the back. The players look confused as to who should be marking who.

I would personally have brought Demichelis on and not Otimendi but we have paid big money for him so on he went.

For a supposed small club as Buffoon said we are they did not half celebrate the victory.

I think we may have a mental block as a team when it comes to Europe which prevents us from playing at the pace we do in the league but also the teams in Europe do not open themselves up to being attacked like over here.

I think we will win at least 3 of the next 5 games in this competition, draw one other and other results will see us through albeit in second place so a hard draw to come.
