To be fair the man is a close to being a moron at times and his tactics dull, boring and frequently just a shot n the dark (like Midweek team selection and substitutions).

Yes, Utd fans are prize plums firmly footed in the past "These are not Man Utd branded [class of 92] players" quotes so often repeated. We were real live CL top drawer in with a real chance of winning every season. They have not come to terms with new realities. They are too arrogant to understand they dominated the PL because they had all the money, it was all set up to favour their income stream, and therefore they bought all the best players available.

That still does not mean LvG (spell lol) is not an idiot, he is. We had 67% possession and even loww wezz lost wezz should have won with our one shot wezz had.

Their football is awful, dull and boring to watch, even Utd fans know and admit that. LvG is firmly to blame for that. Life is painful for them now, and that will continue.

Don't you read the papers? They're raving about all the injuries, so they're defense was full of kids. It's really unfair! Although Bournemouth had a bigger injury list...

The rags steady decline into mediocrity is both entertaining and instructional.

I'll say one thing for Sour Alex - he created a good system down at the swamp and he had a fine eye for prospective players who he could slip into that system to keep it going as the years rolled by. And when he signed the occasional duff player (as all managers do) or some much vaunted youth prospect failed to mature - the rags always had the massive financial resources to buy their way out of trouble.

But then, along came the Glazers... The transfer budgets got slashed, the stars got old, and the supply of talented youth (such as it was) dried up. The rot had set in before Fergie left. To his credit he managed to scrape one last Premiership with a squad held together with sticking plaster and ageing veterans and then he fled the sinking ship. Can't say I blame him to be honest. Faced with the same restraints, Moyes and Van Gaal have failed to build on the Ferguson's legacy and system - a system which is fast becoming a distant memory down at the swamp.

Momentum is everything in football - not just on the pitch but also the way a club is run behind the scenes. A club cannot afford to stand still. Once you find a winning system - Keep it going. Nurture it. Plan ahead. The rags used to do that... then along came the Glazers.

I'm convinced Ferguson would have retired 12 months earlier but for the Aguero goal. He could see what was coming with the execs focused on increasing revenues rather than the trophy count. Also one of the journos on Sky's Sunday Supplement today compared the current set-up to the immediate post-Busby era when decent but out of their depth managers like O'Farrell and Docherty inherited a similar mess of ageing stars and replacements not up to scratch, sadly it won't end in relegation this time but a few seasons out of the CL would be almost as bad for their rep.
