Melbourne City lifted the FFA Cup (basically our version of the FA cup) last night - with a little help from Tim Cahill. His first winner's medal at club level in his whole career!
It wasn't a classic, but City created the better chances against an in-form and much fancied Sydney side, and deserved the spoils. Always good to beat anything from Sydney :)

Oh - and if you watch the video the commentator is ex-pat Simon Hill, a dyed-in-the-blue-wool Manchester City fan who just had to mention "the City Football Group" at the end there!
Makes a nice change from Cahill scoring against us.
Good to see well done Melbourne City
is cahill on big money kenny or is it just to go home at end of career? no idea how oz get the likes of del piero and umm heskey
Yes, Cahill is on a fair chunk of money - but there is a salary cap system here so there are limits.
As far as big name players are concerned Australia is currently regarded as one of the last destinations before final retirement (Cahill is now 36 I think). They could still get better money in somewhere like China or the Gulf, but no one should under-estimate the attractions of the Australian lifestyle (deadly animals aside!) - not just for returning prodigal sons like Cahill, but the climate here also suits ageing Mediterranean stars or northern European types who can't face another northern hemisphere winter. Here the season is played across the summer - so warm weather, long bright evenings, and more than enough good restaurants, watering holes and shops to keep a bone-weary veteran and his WAG content for a last season or two.
cheers kenny
spose id prefer pissed off koalas to having to deal with yanks in that pub league
Good to see any part of City doing well.
Well done Melbourne City I notice the Sydney supporters did the team talk ! ;)
"Cahill revealed after the match the surprising motivation that preceded his header: Sydney FC's fans.
The regular song that has greeted Cahill around the league has been "you're only here for the money", and the strong travelling Sydney FC fanbase gave it an airing on Wednesday night."
