This is an article that will warm the cockles of your heart and/or unsettle you in equal measure! I can already imagine the responses from certain posters on here ;D
It's a long read, but worth sticking with. I found the section about buying / loaning players and using 'second clubs' very interesting.
They need a ground for NYCFC. Girona is certainly providing some decent experience for some of our kids. Mooy was a great example of how this can turn a profit for us. But mainly I'd love to see us producing our own players regularly. It is an awkward read at times too but it was United's wealth that dominated the game for a couple of decades and we need to compete in that sphere.
I suppose the biggest concern is "Where is this all taking us?"
A domestic league dominated year after year by just a handful of the same clubs (if even that - perhaps just two or three) - or do the West Ham's of this world get to follow the same model somehow?
Or is some sort of European super league an inevitability? (Even post-brexit ;) )
I must admit, I havent thought much about the global entity that CFG are attempting to build, I suppose like the average long suffering City fan I've been too busy drooling at our standard of play this season. And hoping for a massive 'double'
So we are to become the Apple of football, the first ever.
I'm left wondering (after reading that) where this rampant capitalism stands in the minds and conscience of our local working class fan base, (Clayton and its surrounds isnt the West end of London). Will they lose heart as the machine rolls on or will Socialism be temporarily shelved while CFG grind Manchester United and its dominance into the dirt ?
For myself, I dont care, whats one more conglomeration in a world of Coca Cola & Disney ?

Soriano is a visionary in the business side of football as much as Pep is on the playing side. An interesting read. I could see a Chinese City becoming the biggest team in the CFG, eventually.
