Title: at Cheltenham
Post by: gavin on January 23, 2021, 16:53:27
XI | Steffen, Garcia, Harwood-Bellis, Laporte, Mendy, Fernandinho (C), Doyle, Mahrez, Torres, Foden, Jesus

SUBS | Ederson, Dias, Sterling, Gundogan, Zinchenko, Rodrigo, Bernardo, Cancelo, Bernabe

10 changes but still a strong side. Good to see Harwood and Doyle get a run.

That was an amazing clearing header to deny Mendy. Another few saves and chances but undoubtedly a disappointing half.

Mahrez + Mendy equals nought. Absolute rubbish.

Foden, the future.

Mendy can fook off

Once we started finishing well they were buried. I'm glad Jesus got his goal because the earlier miss could have been costly. Foden was excellent and seems to be stepping up now. Cancelo did well as sub.

Mendy would not even have been good enough to play for Cheltenham tonight let alone us.

Pay someone to take him, such a disappointment.

Great cup tie, credit to Cheltenham. Thought we were going to rue the misses from Jesus and Mahrez but Foden played very well and deserved his goal. Foden starting to show that consistency now. We’ll need him to keep going whilst KDB is out. Winning streak continues!

Mendy, though wasn't bad, apart from the shot, didn't actually do anything.

The same could be said for Mahrez too.

Also, Jesus did well to score, but he wasn't good.

Foden a step above, had a jinking run that reminded me of Kinkladze...

Things we learned after yesterday's game vs Cheltenham.

Time to get rid of Mendy and Mahrez

Jesus blows hot and cold

Mendy wasn't bad because he wasn't there, didn't turn up. He just adds nothing defending or attacking these days. The injury done for him.

Mahrez is a very skilful player and a bundle for opponents to manage, but he seldom turns up or make significant contributions or outputs, and he fades out of games far too easily and of course as we all know he is selfish to the core.

He might have scored but everyone in our family were screaming at the tv especially at him..He gets in everyones way and has no idea really where he should be playing.Scored from a position where he's comfortable but he's no Torres when asked to play the number 9 role. Most of everything he touched turned to sawdust.

Lightweight and a luxery.
