Optus are my long standing ISP provider, so I'll take another look - see if I really can stream them for free through my existing service.

They'd better be free though. We are not ditching Foxtel yet and we have no intention of paying for two cable TV services side by side. If Optus doesn't come to the party I will just have to be content seeing the occasional live game and watching the rest on a few hours delay (which Foxtel are still offering - along with City TV)

There's a good idea - soon I can be paying $1000 a month worth of cable tv  :-[
Fetch tv looks like foxtel - just not as good.

Ive signed up
If your an existing customer they will give you the 16/17 season for free, providing you sign up before the end of July, after that ie next year it will be $15 a month, way cheaper than Foxtel

If your not an existing customer its $15 a month (no free year)

Great deal

Indeed it is, but we get Foxtel for reasons other than football (at least for now)

So did you end up with foxtel or optus for this season?

In spite of having been a long standing (many years) Optus cable modem customer - apparently my plan wasn't 'high' enough, so I don't automatically qualify and I will have to upgrade (i.e. pay more)

I've been out of work for most of the last 6 months and money is tight - so they can fuck off. I'll stick with delayed broadcasts on Fox Sports and the occasional live game on free-to-air SBS and see how I go.

I also stuck with foxtel. Usually during a season I don't watch every game live anyway so it won't make that big a difference. SBS is showing the derby game in a few weeks  :)

First weekend of Optus Premier League coverage in Australia was a mess!

Hundreds of complaints. Broken steams, poor picture quality, and big delays on supposedly 'live' coverage. One subscriber reported a notification for a penalty saved on his phone before a penalty had even been awarded on his stream!

I hope Optus get their fingers burnt. Greedy bastards.

How unprofessional  :)
Fox had a problem too with 'technical difficulties' when they were supposed to show City vs Sunderland on Sunday.
But I was glad to see SBS showing EPL highlights last night although only a 30 minute show instead of an hour.

I knew damn well it was always going to be a mess. There will be no 100% reliable live HD web streaming here until they bite the bullet, revert to the original plan for the National Broadband Network and stop trying to do it on the cheap. Australia's web services were amongst the poorest (slowest) in the developed world. Premier League should not have sold the rights to a web based Australian provider. Big mistake = detrimental to the brand. Should have been retained on TV (at least for now).

Incidentally shandon, keep an eye out for repeat showings on Fox. There link to City TV (which presumably includes a replay of the Sunderland game?) was shown again in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday). I've recorded it but not had time to check it out yet.

I noticed they replayed it a few times. I haven't seen when they will show the Stoke game yet. City tv has extras too like the Noel Gallagher/Pep interview  :)
