Title: A sign of the times
Post by: jingoe on June 29, 2025, 17:34:39
My son runs a circus . I went to visit yesterday in Harpenden near Luton (about 170 miles from The Etihad)

There were 3 shows with a combined attendance of about 1,000. I didn't see a single adult wearing a football shirt but saw one kid wearing an Arsenal shirt and 3 wearing City shirts. Not a United , Liverpool or Chelsea shirt to be seen! It made me smile.

City tops in Luton eh. I suppose that we should feel sad for the local team. Then I remember 1983 and think nah fuck 'em.

Times have definitely changed

My son got bullied at school for supporting City as Ireland was all Rags and dippers 30 years ago

Now there are a lot of kids with City shirts , marketing at its very best

My old man was in the Army, so we moved about a bit. He was born in Manc, but we settled in the oxford area after he retired (last posting). I wasn't bullied at school for supporting city, but people did used to tell me that city's their fave 2nd team, followed by a lot of pity post 1997.

Now, those same people spit feathers about our success.

I detest the pity more
