Lots of sources saying we've put in a £106m bid for Elliot Anderson.
Transfer fees are now getting beyond belief, I remember when we paid a million for Trevor Francis and thinking that was insane.
Trevor Francis was the England striker and had been at the top of the game for years already. It was his second million pound move. But Anderson had a very good season and we have to trust the judgement of those in charge. Still a British transfer record is some judgement on a player still finding his way in the game.
The money involved now is insane but not the most insane stuff going on.

I am long ago chilled about transfer fees, they don't really mean that much.
Firstly, the actually amount and terms are never formally published so are mostly informed speculation and often PR coverage for letting a key player leave the team to quell fans anger.
Secondly, the actually fee is only a portion of the total cost, which includes a player signing on fee, agent fees, wages, annual payments, performance linked payments, upfront or phased payments, etc.
Thirdly, the fee depends on the players current contract, how long is left, how much were they originally bought for and the other clubs need for money.
Fourthly, the players value can increase or decrease making a good deal a very bad deal or a very poor deal a great deal.
Fifthly, a lot depends on the clubs finances (which we know only very little), for example Elliot is to replace Bernardo who was probably on higher wages so some saving there, plus other players will be sold at a huge profit best example academy players which offset the cost in the books.
Finally, but I could go on and on, how many trophies and how much success does the player help the team achieve. For example Declan Rice was a record 'bargain' signing, that helped Arsenal win the PL title.
I B let the club worry about finance, Khaldoon and the management team and board do an amazingly good job of that.
I look forward to seeing him in a City shirt and cheering him and the team on.
Would we have won the treble without Super Jack? If not, then he was priceless. £100 million a snip, and we'll probably get a decent amount back on him.

I haven't seen that much of him apart from his goal against us. I do wonder if his arrival will mean that Rodri will be allowed to leave. I'm enjoying that certain people are getting infuriated that City are still the strongest player in the British transfer market though.
Id have to give Anderson 6/10 so far in the World Cup. I'm a bit concerned he's not the best fit for our possession based play?
I didn't see much of the game tonight but just before the second goal, he was winning the ball and playing some decent, dangerous balls forward. He didn't seem to be well marked on his performance overall online. But I saw glimpses that I liked. Given the fee, I should should hope so too though!
He's played all 4 games and I've tried to watch him closely. I've not been hugely encouraged but could say that about the rest of the team with a couple of exceptions in Kane and Bellingham.
He's been involved a lot and seen plenty of the ball but I haven't seen the quality there yet.

What a fantastic player he has been for us. A true great of the club. Not as long as some others. But his quality and contribution has been immense. With his recent injury record, letting him go might prove wise. But it is a gamble to let such a player go. It seems that he would not have signed any new contract though so maybe it was the only option with only a year left.

So the club initially records:

Why it matters when a player is sold
This is where football accounting gets particularly interesting.
Suppose after 2 years the club sell the player for £50m.

Absolutely huge transfer window for us. Both incoming and outgoing.
Will be hard for Maresca to get the team to gel and come together in a short time so I think this season will be a bit up and down for us but hopefully we'll be set up well for the coming years.
For me, this is a repeat of the Pep team build. Enzo has started quicker though with this total midfield rebuild. Pep didn't really make enough changes during the first year of his reign, probably due to finance, and the big changes came in his second year.
It might take a year for this team to gel together and reach peak form, but next year it should be a formidable team I suspect, if not this year.
It oozes quality all round and depth.
