Title: @ Chelsea
Post by: gavin on April 05, 2017, 19:42:00
CITY XI | Caballero, Clichy, Stones, Kompany (c), Fernandinho, Delph, Sane, Silva, De Bruyne, Navas, Aguero

Bravo, Zabaleta, Kolarov, Fernando, Toure, Sterling, Nolito

Interesting team. great to see Vinny back at last. I've got a feeling Navas will score tonight.

Well, worst case scenario. They score first.

We just can't defend and they can.

Aguero! 1-1.

Now try and keep it tight and sneak a goal on the counter.

Not a bad half apart from their goals, again. Same old story whatever he does with the team really. We can do it second half but I wouldn't put much money on it. We're always too likely to concede another. I'd settle for a point.

Calamity Caballero for the first goal.
Delph looked a bit rusty, but has grown into the game. I hope he doesnt get the hook.  Fernandinho looks like he is knackered. Navas=Cafu, only in Peps world.

typical Chelski leading so break up play with cynical fouls.

No idea how we didn't get a point tonight.

We again conceded 2 goals away from home. That's why we don't get at least a point.

I'm guessing it's because we defend like shit and didnt create chances.

Zzzz indeed. I'm fed up of saying it.

Story of our season. Can't defend.

We weren't great second half and I wouldn't say we put them under enough pressure to complain too much. However Stones had two excellent chances and I thought Sergio could have done better to get ahead of the defender when a cross came in. Stones should have buried that header. Another disappointment in a very disappointing season. Not good enough.

How on earth did Dean get to 90 minutes before booking one of theirs? As usual they were kicking Silva all night. Yet he managed to book three of ours! It should have been a pen first half for Luiz shoving Sergio too.

I have to say though that most of our problems are self made at the back. I don't think a single one of us if told beforehand that we would score only one goal would have thought we would get anything out of the game. Had we scored early in the second half we wouldn't have hung on to it.

A very disappointing season. We've underperformed at all levels. The players have been poor. Peps been poor and the player recruitment has been poor.

At the moment the team has non confidence. We've finished the really tough run, but in all honesty I can see us getting much better.

Our record in the games that count and against out main rivals is appalling and is something of a stain for Pep's record.

Fancy tactics are good only when they work and bring wins not defeats.

Lots of work needed and a whole new defence and goalkeeper(s) of sufficient standard.

Would prefer Chelsea's manager. Pep is still on a learning curve; Navas;crap; DeBruyne: off his game for some reason; lacking in confidence. Why did we not have Zabb and Sterling on the right flank, and why take off Sane at that stage ?

zabbas legs are long gone, his fullback days are over

still reckon we replaced pelle with pelle, he had the team playing just as shit for less money

how can Pep be on a learning curve when he has won leagues in other countries? also, if Pep is on a learning curve then the Chelsea manager is also on a learning curve, but his curve has Chelsea top of the table; some learning curve. so what is the difference other than one is top of the league!  your argument has no validity!
City has had trouble for years building a team around certain players that are inconsistent and now need to go if City want to win the premier league or CL. BYE BYE Silva & CO your time is up!

We should have done better than we have. But lets see how Chelsea do when they have the Champions League to deal with next season. They've also been rather fortunate with injuries this season. I'm as disappointed in the season as anyone but Pep has a three year contract and I think we should let him see that out. His record justifies that. If we don't improve then no new contract.

Under Pellegrini we won the title first season then went backwards. Same could happen to Conte, opposite could happen with Pep.

That is a massive plus for Chelsea, not having CL to contend with.  We've been unfortunate with injuries to key players at critical times.  Gabby Jesus would've torn apart that Chelsea defence last night.  I think Agueros time is nearly up and de Brun has been off kilter for a while.

But surely de Bruyne has got to be a long-term hold? If Pep can't get him playing, something must be seriously dodgy.

Are we using kdb in his correct position? Prob not. Is pep trying to turn him into a more complete midfielder? Probably!
Is he a winger? Not at all. When we have a more dynamic cm three, I think kdb will be the tip in the long term.

Got to agree re Aguero. It feels like a troll-y thing to say even as I type it, but why is it never highlighted how many chances he fecking misses? I think if Aguero was as good as people say he is he would have another 50% of the goal tally he currently has for us. He is brilliant, and who knows if better are available, but, for me, he is overrated.

He's been played deeper in midfield. He's better as a support striker
