Title: Yellow Ribbon
Post by: gavin on February 24, 2018, 09:17:58
Even UEFA aren't officious enough to ban it on the touchline but the FA have managed to out do them for pointless stupidity. I suppose they should be thanked for giving the cause more publicity though.

Apparently all this was started by comments made by Mourinho before the derby.

Pep can tie yellow ribbons round the PL trophy in a few months

Pep can choose to defy the FA by wear yellow as part of his outfit (just not a ribbon) and we all will know what it stands for. That will leave a stupid FA with the task of trying to ban him wearing anything with yellow in it.

I propose a yellow edging to his suit lapels.

This is the same FA that lobbied so hard for the English national team to be able to wear a poppy...

The FA may be kicking off, but I would not be surprised if they have had a kick from Madrid.

Hmmmm, quite an emotive issue.

If it had been brexit/ remain would it have mattered?

If it had been Scots independence?

Should football be used for political gains? Probably not but while it remains peaceful it's gotta be better than Hoddle blaming past lives for disabilities or curing crystals under the pitch... or even pissing in each corner of the pitch to banish a hoodoo

Football is interlinked with politics/religion in many places. Anyone remember Boban fighting with police, just before the Yugoslav civil war. Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid were linked to the Franco regime. Barcelona, more than a club.

I see Pep was still wearing it at the final today. The FA won’t like that.

He didn't wear it on the touchline though.

He did. He wore it throughout the game under his coat and scarf.

The FA Chief exec comparing it with ISIS is a bit much and his comments haven't gone down too well in other quarters either.

What a fuckin idiot.

Pep has again just responded by saying that he will remove it if the FA ask him.

Don't hold your breath Pep, that would require common sense!
