First match is early on Sunday morning against Borussia Dortmund. You can hardly call that a City first team. Its going to be interesting. The other teams will also be weakened due to the World Cup I'm sure but nothing like us.

No shame in either defeat, first game decided by a penalty. Second game decided by a penalty, even bin dippers first goal was off side. Some good play from young players

It looks like a decent effort from the lads considering the relative strengths of the teams. We can only take these friendlies with an even larger pinch of salt than normal though.

As is indicated by Hart getting game time  :)
Also Roberts must be getting to the point where he plays for the first team or leaves?

Given the youth of the team last night they deserved to hold on to the draw especially as Salah was offside for their equaliser, the US officials made the PL lot seem almost efficient.

Eric Garcia gave a very composed and accomplished performance at CB for a 17 year old and Zinchenko did well as a holding midfielder. Foden and Diaz were fairly quiet but the young winger Luke Bolton who has played at RB or RWB on this tour showed some promise. Bernardo and Sane came on at HT and livened up our attacking options alongside Mahrez. Very good assist by Bernardo, finished well by Sane who missed a much easier chance a few mins before.

Is this tournament one where they go to a penalty shootout if a game ends in a draw?

Yes, shoot-out after 90 mins if it's a draw.

The last match is early in the morning against Bayern Munich. Then the Charity Shield next weekend. The season is almost upon us and we have seen very little sign of the first team. I can remember no pre-season like it before. We can only hope that the players had a rhythm so intrinsic that they can start again without preparation.

Manchester City XI: Bravo (c), Bolton, Laporte, Humphreys, Eric Garcia, Zinchenko, Douglas Luiz, Foden, Diaz, Mahrez, Nmecha

Young team starting v Bayern Munich

2-1 down at HT. Some quality build-up from the kids just lacking a finish until Bernardo came on and scored a peach in stoppage time. Sleeping at the back for the 2 goals which were against the run of play. Foden, Diaz and Douglas Luiz all looking good.

Mahrez off injured, looked like an ankle knock.

Won 3-2, goals from Nmecha and Bernardo again, fully deserved win for the kids against a decent-strength Bayern side. Bernardo probably the pick for his goals and Foden, Diaz, Bolton, Garcia and Luiz the best of the youngsters but a good all-round performance.

Only negative was Foden holding his hamstring when subbed and Mahrez off injured too.

Looks like a great performance by the lads from the highlights. Any victory against Bayern is great but to do it with such a youthful side is amazing. Maybe a few of them will get a run out in the charity shield.

Prob because we've never had so many players at the world cup let alone the later stages.
