Title: v Schalke (Crooked League)
Post by: KunDB on February 20, 2019, 19:01:49
XI | Ederson, Walker, Laporte, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Silva (C), Bernardo, Sterling, Aguero

SUBS | Muric, Danilo, Kompany, Sané, Mahrez, Zinchenko, Foden

C'mon City

Fernandinho dropping back to centre half when defending?

Looks like Fern in the weird centre half midfield position again. No sentiment as ever for Pep as he leaves Sane on the bench against his former club.

This VAR thing is rapidly becoming a joke. Should never be used to decide this sort of thing.

Ref did not even check a screen. 6 minutes to reach decision is a joke. The Crooked League at its best (worse).

Second penalty just ridiculous. If those two are penalties there would be loads a game.

How can that be adjudged deliberate handball. He was clearly miving his arm away! The second one was very, very soft as well. Crooked league indeed.

2nd pen was fair enough, daft from Fernandinho,  although Schalke could have been offside from the free kick. 1st pen was a bollocks decision. Walker was clearly moving his arm back and behind his body, how that can be deliberate I don’t no.

We’re a much better side though. I can still see us scoring again.

Yes, I had more problems with the first penalty than the second. Can't see how they can give that as deliberate handball.

Not after six minutes deliberation!

Some great build up play in this second half, but our final ball is really lacking.

Oh FFS!  Is that really a yellow?

Down to 10. Silva subbed. Might be playing a cagey game from now on to limit the damage and try and steal an equaliser.

That sending off was a disgrace. Neither yellow was justified.

Fantastic from City in the end. What a fuckin free kick that was.

Showed great character tonight in the face of some awful officiating. Beautiful goal from Sane. He’s going to be some player for us!

Not at all impressed by the decisions tonight. Sane, Emerson and Sterling magic won the game against the weighted odds against us.

VAR for a clear error. If it takes many minutes to decide, it cannot be clear cut at all. Their penalties were the only shots on target. Besides Otamendi, the yellow cards will mean suspensions somewhere. Still, job virtually done.

He already is to be fair.

Wondering if pep left him out thinking the occasion would get to him

Don't think he can justify his place ahead of Sterling and Bernardo. Sane does go missing alot in games.

Bernardo i more central though, Sane is a wide player.  I'm still not sure why we bothered buying Mahrez, probably just squad depth - but both Foden and Sane should be in ahead of him.

He is already some player for us but I think he can go really far in the game. He’s like a thoroughbred racehorse when you see him in full flow.

did an actual reason come out for germany binning him from the world cup or did he just upset the wrong people or something?

I was genuinely excited when were signed Holden, with all the rumours of his amazing left foot!  But my God, a slower player I’ve yet to see 😀

He was great at beating his man was Ricky. Just a shame he wanted to beat him 15 times before getting a cross in. He was a decent player as old City players go to be fair.
