A really good player when he was finally injury free, but he is set to enter the final 12 months of his Blues contract at the end of the season. Put simple he is stalling, a move that seems an obvious ploy to see out his contract and cash in with a big money transfer to another club which he can do with 6 months of his contract left.
Nothing wrong with that from his perspective but I hope the club sell him this summer as the money raised can be used to find a replacement. If, as I suspect he digs his heels in to see out his last year, I would bench him for next season to send a strong message to other players.

His form for us has been mixed and mixed with injuries. At his best he has promised to fulfil the legend of that number 8 shirt. However, it has been far from often enough. He's worth a new contract but not at the very top level.
