Post by: gavin on January 27, 2023, 19:02:03
XI | Ortega Moreno, Lewis, Stones, Akanji, Ake, Rodrigo, De Bruyne, Gundogan (C), Mahrez, Grealish, Haaland

SUBS | Ederson, Walker, Dias, Phillips, Cancelo, Laporte, Alvarez, Bernardo, Palmer

Keeper changed, other than that about the strongest side we have at the moment.

Peps going strong apart from the keeper , but Ederson has been a bit off lately so maybe not so bad

Arsenal 6 changes so a somewhat weakened team.

C'mon City

Artetas putting out a lot of fringe players. If they lose, its the reserves, concentrate on the league, win, see City arent that good. Clever, no downside. They only care about the league.

Odd game. Nothing to gain in terms of influence on title race, shame.

We look like something is missing.

Abysmal. Slow, sidewards & backwards.

Do we ever learn. So show we are causing trouble for ourselves even resulting in it defenders falling over each other.

How did it take 41 minutes to book Holding? Holding by name and nature, as well as a forearm to the back of the head of course.

Poor first half though. I hope for much better in the second half. Grealish needs to sort his crossing. He's had a couple of great chances to get in a good ball.

first half performances this season have been poor, hopefully a bit more fluent attacking second half

Ray Wilkins comes to mind watching City

We score, perhaps against the run of play, and then drop off Arsenal and let them pin us back in our own half.

What is wrong with this team

No pressing just standing off the other team.

A win and into the draw for the next round but an average performance at best. Happy flowers performance.

Lacking cohesion, courage and confidence. A winning machine tweaked into malfunction. Wish our wingers would go at full backs like Martinelli did.

A great win against our big opponents this season. First big blow by City. Ake was immense even taking away the goal. Great work by Alvarez and Jack on the goal. A lovely finish from Ake. A hard fought victory. Into the next round after yet another tough draw. You can't win every game by a country mile in style. That'll do for me tonight . We need to keeping winning and the better form will come.

I have no doubt we will beat the gooners twice in the PL

Asrsenal are average for me and that could have been 4 or 5 last night if City were on form

Pep will sort it

Arsenal are a very good side. Honestly, when I've watched them play they look better as a team than Liverpool have in the last few years. Liverpool had great, dynamic players on the break and could score goals even when playing shite. Arsenal dominate games and look the real deal. Because they play a lot like us, they will hit the same problems eventually though with teams increasingly packing defence and being hard to break down. We're going to need four points at least from our games against them I think. Of course, if we got six points then that would put a lot of pressure on them and that could cause a buckle. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if they see it through.
