You'd think the list of right backs would be long indeed. Do the rumour mungers actually pay attention to where we need players?

Swiss

Yep, I was thinking it's a bit light but there's a player in that list that also play RB.

Fabinho

And we have fernandinho.

Bit of money saving???

I wonder if he's decided to give maffeo a chance? Or Angelino?
Anyone been tracking their performances?

Swiss

My main concern is that we're lacking homegrown and club trained.

We need 8 in the squad. 4 nation trained and 4 club trained.

Currently we have club trained Angus gunn, iheanacho, Tosin, Aleix & Manu Garcia. 5. But none have really been given much playing time.

Then we have sterling, Stones, Delph as nation trained.

Potentially we have Roberts. Maffeo, Angelino & Enes Unal

On one hand could be great, but it's thin ice really.

Swiss

This article links us with yet more Monaco players:

http://bitterandblue.sbnation.com/2017/5/30/15705832/bernardo-silva-manchester-city-summer-transfer-2017-city-fan-perspective

Thomas Lemar - an Attacking Midfielder who can play Left, Right and Centre. His youtube looks as though he's more of a Yaya type midfielder than a Silva or Sterling.

Tiémoué Bakayoko - A defensive Midfielder

gavin

Lol, it'd be easier to tell us who we haven't been linked with at Monaco.

Swiss

It's a little redic really!

This MEN article has Mendy agreeing to join us... But the details need to be worked out

This dudes Twitter reporting Mendy will sign.

Also interestingly, there's a familiar face from our past if you keep scrolling down!

Gelson, I kind of thought he would be retired but he's only 30.

Swiss

You got it!
30!? Surely not! Looks as though he's had a decent career for a distinctly average midfielder

Swiss

Lucas Hernandez from athletico Madrid. Plays CB, LB

gavin

I was reading about that on CityWatch and apparently it is impacted by the fact that their transfer ban has been upheld.

gavin

That seems an odd one, do we really need a backup backup for Claudio now we nearly have Ederson as backup.

Gareth

Yeah, and not great news for Angus Gunn.

bbk

I would say Reina would be the back up to Ederson, surely? Bravo will probably fade into a better looking version of Richard Wright.

Gareth

Swiss

Lest Bravo is to return to Spain...

Be nice to see if Angus is any good. He's only a couple of years younger than Ederson. Maybe Celtic beckons...

Swiss

Hilariously, Liverpool have been accused of tapping up Van Dijk, then issued an apology to Southampton FC and announced they have pulled out of the transfer...

Swiss

Oh and Alexi Sanchez rumours back on.

gavin

Presumably Southampton have agreed to now drop their complaint about tapping up. Looks like he'll be stuck at shitty Southampton for another season. Very embarrassing climb down for Liverpool but better than a transfer ban.

Swiss

Well today, Liverpool are back in it! This has more twists than a yankee daytime TV show!

Especially as now the press are quoting £70mil for Virgil - lol

Prediction - Spurs to ask £70mil for Walker tomorrow!

gavin

I'd say the world has gone crazy but that is too fucking obvious.

Swiss

gavin

It was a matter of time but I think we are focussing on younger forwards.

Swiss

Hopefully, if people don't want Walker cause he rolls about the pitch...

Swiss

I've updated the ins and outs & added Dani Alves to the list of linked players.

Nice place, I was in Ryde not long ago,  lovely little town.

Anime convention  ?

Back on topic, sounds like we pulled out of buying Van Dijk, sensible decision,  70 mil .....way overpriced

Swiss

No, not anime this time... we're just outside of Newport in a static.

They're linking us to the ox  now...

Maybe just buy Arsenal and keep Wenger as head of finding cheap players then we won't have to buy of them

gavin

I hope it picks up soon. Maybe it will when the window officially opens but there's not really much to stop deals being done anyway as we did two very early.

Sky reporting that Arsenal have had two bids rejected for players. Is that Sky getting desperate or Arsenal starting early placating their fans?

Hesperus

Not brilliant progress so far on the transfer front is it. Lots of rumours we're nearly there with Alves and Mendy but at the moment we have a squad with no recognised full backs! I'm sure this will get resolved but it's taking longer than planned. We start preseason on Monday and I'm sure Pep would want his targets involved in as much preseason as possible.

gavin

Kolarov is a recognised as a full back by me at least though a few might disagree....

I agree the lack of progress has been disappointing though. No mention of a centre half at all so seems that we're relying on Vinny again.

Swiss

Latest rumours.

Kolarov off to Turkey

Mendy still joining
Alves rumoured to have an offer from PSG
Sergi Roberto offer knocked back
Dalbert offer knocked back

With players returning from summer leave this month, hopefully rumours will turn fact

Swiss

3/44 signed so far.

Wish I could be 7% accurate in my profession

gavin

What is your profession Swiss? Refs seem to get about 7% correct.

Do you have any spare bombers? There's a site in Trafford that could do with levelling  ;D. Uwe's granddad had a go but I'd like to finish the job.

It annoys me that were such a soft touch and we give the impression that we are buying success too quickly, Id prefer to build a team slowly rather than buy one quickly. I like the way Spurs are doing it.

shandon

Spurs don't have as much money to spend though.

Lekos

Their wage cap is around 100k / week.  They have cash, all Premier League clubs have lots of cash.  That wage structure won't last long, or if they stick to it don't expect to see them in the top 4 / 5 for much longer.

Hesperus

Walker signed officially. We have a right back!

Hesperus

Not my favourite player if I'm honest but certainly a big improvement on Sagna and Zabba of late.

Welcome to city Kyle. Looking forward to seeing you bombing down the wing. All the best.

Swiss

The price was inflated for 3 reasons:
1)He's English, for some reason that carries a premium...
2) We are desperate for a decent FB
3) We need HG players

These are two facts we cannot hide from the market & the seller knows it.

Had we invested in full backs 2 years ago, we would not have been in the same position and we would have had a better bargaining position.
That being said, Spurs didn't have to sell.

Maybe so, but if they can keep their manager (big if) they might win it this time or next.

anyway 1 positive from buying Walker is at least Pep is acknowledging we need good defenders

Hesperus

Mendy strongly rumoured to be joining next maybe even early next week. I've just read that Mendy has also just followed Walker on instagram, which sounds promising.

Swiss

Swiss

Apparently Joe Hart has completed his medical at WHAM. loan moved mooted

Swiss

Seems like Maffeo has yet to go back on loan somewhere yet...

gavin

It'd be nice to see him given the backup role to Walker but doubt he will be.

Hesperus

Unless we sign another RB I can't see any other option than to use Maffeo unless we are going to plan on using Fernandinho as RB cover (which would be shortsighted by the club imo).  So I hope we give him a chance too.

Swiss

Reports of Real Madrid's back up RB: Danilo are circling again.

Press saying he was awful last year

sanchez rumours are boring  me to death

Gareth

Swiss

Playing a dangerous game as he could buy himself out

Hesperus

Danilo - a RB from Real linked. Never heard of him or seen him play.

Swiss

Press are reporting he had a shit season last year.

Came from Porto...

Hesperus

Hmm. I have grave reservations about us signing players from Porto. However he must have something about him if Real signed him for £30 million.

Hesperus

It's also being reported that we've dropped our interest in Ryan Bertrand due to us missing out on Alves and having to shell out another 30 mill we hadn't planned on.  Apparently this Danilo can play a number of positions, LB being one of them.

shandon

No one has mentioned Kelechi Iheanacho going to Leicester.

Swiss

Tbf, this is pretty much been about the players coming in.

🐝

shandon

Ok. We will have a "buy-back" option on Iheanacho apparently.

Rowley Birkin QC

I do wish City's social media feeds would stop dropping endless photos and vids of City stars handing over shirts to assorted American celebrities into my news feeds. Every time I see one I think we've signed another player!

Hesperus

Mbappe for £160 million anyone? I don't have a problem with the transfer fees this summer but that does sound excessive.

I have a feeling though he's Real bound, but who knows! Pep isn't ruling it out by the sounds of the interviews. Hi

Swiss

Well Barce have just come into some serious cash... â,¬222m for Neymar to PSG!

Having watched the boys in all four pre season games, don't think we need any more signings, any more would be excessive

Swiss

Might aswell drop the sticky on this thread - Could put my comparison thread up here instead  8)

Neil Mcnab

Winter window, a new LB. We were supposed to be interested in Grimaldi before we bought Mendy. Aaron Martin is another roumored interest at LB.

Sanchez for Sterling?

Swiss

Neil Mcnab

Delph, the new Milner.

Pep wants pace at full back, that rules out a lot of good technical players, who dont have the speed to match.

gavin

Sterling is going nowhere. A new left back is likely.

We can't buy anyone till January. My main concern transfer wise at the moment is FIFA holding this player that signed for Leicester out to dry until Xmas for the sake of 14 seconds. It is disgraceful.

Apart from anything else it should have been allowed because we need more Silvas in the prem.

Out by 14 seconds? They'd all f*cking summer to sign him.

No sympathy.

It is the player I have sympathy for.
