One or two signings

So say both the manager and the chairman. But expect them to be quality. It seems that we've learnt from titles past and are determined to build carefully on our success. We really did fail to push on after our last two titles. I don't agree that this isn't a great side already - for all the titles the rags have won they have never got near 100 points. I think the magintude of that achievement will only become clear in the years to come. But, of course, it will be greater if we can go on to win it again, and again. It is going to be an interesting summer. Certain clubs are going to be desperate  :D.

Swiss

Leading candidates so far are

1. Jorginho
2. Hazard
3. Mahrez

bry the guy

Neil Mcnab

Fred is inconsistent, apparently. If Pep wants Mahrez, he must know what he is doing??? Not seen much of Jorginho, guessing a class act.

The Blue Blooded Maniac

After a young Ajax centre back apparently

1. Jorginho
2. Hazard
3. Mahrez
4. De Ligt
5. Fred
6. Douglas Costa
7. Alcantara
8. Bale (won't be long til we're linked after his comments last night)
9. Leon Bailey

bbk

Jorginho and Hazard will do for now.

And a Sterling who can finish, please.

Re Fred: Apparently he's dicking about behind the scenes ala Sanchez and City told him to do one. I like the 'you either want to come or you don't, if you don't: fuck off' approach we seem now to be taking.

so at least 5 of those can play out  wide and all will cost a shedload..cant drop sane or bernie silva, could this be the start of winding down dave silva ( move bernie into the middle) or just fucking off sterling?

Neil Mcnab

Thiago must be the fallback if we dont get Jorginho? Fred is off to the shit. Guess Foden out on loan, hope he goes to a decent league if its outside England.

Pep's already said this season that Dave will start winding down.
I too think Bernie will be moved in centre to play with KDB.
Meaning 1 wide player/ striker

goat

didnt know he said  that, cheers tone

safe to say we had our moneys worth out of him

Swiss

At 32 he's got a couple of good seasons in him. Especially as he's a player that never relied on pace. Age hits those the hardest

Neil Mcnab

Silva is contacted till 2020. I remember reading somewhere he wants to play for Las Palmas before he hangs up his boots.

goat

posters of vinny samways on his wall as a lad?

nimrod

Like to see us going for Mbappe
Young, Pep style of player, ready made replacement for Sergio when he goes and would seem to for with Jesus
Fuck Mahrez we dont need more wide players and he's not worth 75 mill, give Roberts or that Stockport lad a few games in the cups while resting Sane, Sterling

Swiss

Mbappe is a wide forward is he not?

nimrod

Both
He's played centrally, He's still developing and could be the new Pele.

19 years old, 21 goals and 16 assists in about 45 games

Hesperus

Looking like Mahrez and Jorginho. Will come in for big money. Good players, but have to say I'm a little underwhelmed. I'm surprised given our stock is so high with Pep, the football we play and our record breaking title win that we're not going all out for a superstar to kick us to the next level both on and off the field.

Stephen Paul

Think Pep will have done his homework on these two and how he plans to fit them into the squad

Superstars with big egos is not always the answer ( Pogba)

There are good players out there but many would not fit the Pep mould of team first and hard work every game.

Mbappe would be a lovely signing. That said I think the key now we have Jorginho and Mahrez almost in the bag is building on the immense success of this relatively young team. The prospects are mouth-watering after a season of football bliss.

I was gonna say advertise viagra, but yeah, we'll go with that!

I've heard him described as the new Henry.

Hesperus

We don't appear to be likely to go down the route of signing one big player. We've been signing players at around the same level and have produced an excellent team as a result. Yes, we have stars but not to the level that Mbappe etc would cost. In many ways that is a good thing. I don't think any of our players feel head and shoulders above the rest of the team. It is great that our assists and goals are so widely spread. The focus has to be on having a great team not great players.

Could be argued though that Barca wouldnt have been so dominant without  their star player Messi

Same goes for Real

gavin

We don't have to be the same as them Nimmers. I feel that our policy of signing young, established and still up and comers or players at their peak at around £50 million is going great at the mo. I'd rather not rely on one man.

What Gav said

Hesperus

All good points Gav. I’m just not sure the two players linked are quite at the level we should be looking but time will tell I guess.

Mbappe though is one I’d break the bank for. At his age he’s be with us for years and his physical attributes are just what we are lacking up front. Especially with Sergio more than likely to leave in the next 1-2 years.

The Blue Blooded Maniac

I reckon Dzeko would do well in our team now.

Not that he didn't before mind you.

he looks like he has learned how to play football in italy

Swiss

Barce got messi as a young kid, so didn't really buy him as a star player

Swiss

Linked with Kroos today and Gundog linked to barce. Fair swap I'd say :-D

Neil Mcnab

Thiago looked a real class act when he came on for Spain, if he is the fallback if we dont get Jorginho, Jorginho must be some player.

Will we need some to replace Sterling? Wants big money. Hazard to us, Sterling the other way would do.

Swiss

More kroos rumours as Jorginho deal takes longer and longer
