Man City lineup: Ederson (GK) — Walker, Dias, Ake, Cancelo — De Bruyne, Rodrigo, Gundogan (C) — Foden, Haaland, Grealish.

Man City subs: Moreno, Phillips, Stones, Alvarez, Silva, Mahrez, Palmer, Lewis, Wilson-Esbrand

C'mon City lets put some points in the bank early season over our chief PL opponents Liverpool.

Interesting that Bernard relegated to the bench. That team can beat anyone but it could be a tough game. Come on you blues.

I would say worrying, he is on his way to Barcelona almost certainly. That is sad, but he owes us nought having given us his all every game.

Think Haaland should be getting his head on that and planting it in the back of the net. Then he chose to go high with his foot when it was always going to end with a foul on the keeper. Not a great start for the lad again.

gavin

He very nearly missed that pen. Either that or perfect pen. He won it too. Well done lad.

Was that not a straight red earlier with the tackle on Grealish

Don't be daft, Foden overhit the cross

Yes, going by the standards of last season. Studs up, off the ground, forceful, and arguably out of control. Did he even get a yellow?

Good pen by Erling. Lots of adaptation required for this to work.

Just what we needed in the end. A comfortable victory and Haaland getting some confidence. We still looked very rusty at times but just too good.

KunDB

First glimpse of the superstar that Haaland will be.

So exciting to watch City now, perfect control of games and explosive up front. The rest of the PL will be terrified.

bbk

Plenty evidence that Haaland scoring and city dominating the ball are not mutually exclusive. Happy with that.

Stephen Paul

Bit slow starting today but we got it going

Hesperus

Great debut for Haarland. Won the pen and put it away with confidence 2nd goal was a proper strikers goal. Great way to start your career at City.

Neil Mcnab

Only saw goals, from reports we hammered them and Haaland is already putting defenders in shit street. Only hope Alvarez doesn't get pushed out and lose heart like Torres as he looks great as well.

Interesting to get an opposition player's perspective on a 'masterclass'

Neil Mcnab

The clip on the masterclass was superb insight.
