Eintracht Frankfurt could be willing to let Omar Marmoush leave this month for £67M. However, #ManCity are hoping to spend no more than £50M on the forward.

[Paul Hirst, Constantin Eckner - The Times]

He'd give us some options up front and give Haaland a rest.

gavin

It does look like there will be some action soon now. I hope so too. We need bodies. Even though we do seem desperate at the moment though, the focus does still seem to be on young and up and comers rather than on stars at their peak. Interesting.

Swiss

Omar starting for Frankfurt today means nothing is imminent.

Gonna watch it though... see if he'll add something as a no.10...

Got that Echeverri kid joining as well.

With the Khusanov seemingly wrapped up... please please please city turn attention to DM/CM!

Swiss

Watching the Frankfurt game, looks like he's playing on the right hand side of a front 3.

He just scored, good finish

Swiss

Yeah, seems to have moved in from the right to a more central position for that attack.

Had a couple of good attacks.

Reports this morning, Pep saying it was his decision not to make significant signings in the summer.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but personally i was surprised we didn't try to refresh the squad in the summer.

Vitor Reis is a 19 Yr old CB.

With Khusanov [if he signs], not sure we need him as we have Simpson-P.

Unless one is going to RB...

reddishblue

Looks like 3 signings are imminent + we've been linked a right back from Juventus whose name I've completely forgotten.

Andrea Cambiaso

gavin

Patience. We seem to be nearly there with a few but they aren't done until they are on the City website.

Vickki

That lad from Brazil is having a medical on Saturday and will go straight into the first team according to reports here.

Hesperus

Andrea Cambiaso Is a left back.

Please let us sign a left back!  :) We've been without one for so long!

We need to get some of these deal completed so they're had a bit of time to settle in and adjust. The really tough run of games is approaching fast!

Omar Marmoush signed.

Hopefully he can add a bit of energy and goals to help Haaland out.

Hesperus

And Walker going on loan to AC Milan

They can't have watched him much lately but wise enough to only get a loan.

Hesperus

Running short of time for a midfielder. Peps comments were optimistic either.

That's our biggest weakness in our squad. If we don't recruit there then in this it will very challenging to get top 4.

Swiss

I'd be happy with Douglas Luiz. Was actually one of Villa's better players in their mid and a ready to go player. At 26, got at least 6 seasons ahead of him.

Then a young one. To blood them in for when Rodri eventually retires/ goes.

Desperately need a proper wide defender too.

KunDB

Maybe we should offer the hammers a £40-55m offer for under investigation Paqueta.

gavin

This investigation seems to be going on a bit.

reddishblue

He got MOTM today, deservedly too.

#36
An 18 yr old left back from the doodle dandies

Also Juma Bah signed, an 18 Yr old Right Back; gone straight out on loan to Lens

Hesperus

Mcfarlane is a promising English born LB. Not sure he's first team ready but problem EDS. He's only just turned 18.

Hesperus

Some rumours that any further recruitment in this window will depend on whether or not we progress in the CL tomorrow night.

gavin

We need a defensive midfielder regardless. Maybe the target won't come if we aren't in the next stages but we'll need to change the target if that is the case.

Hesperus

Agreed. We need good midfielders. Watched sky this morning and it shows the fantasy league top 5 player points by keeper, defence, midfield and attack.

We had nobody in the top 5 midfield fantasy league. Can't remember the last time that happened.

reddishblue

Could this be the midfielder Gav is gagging for?

Nico González

Hesperus

Let's hope so. He looks physically like he'll be able to cut it in the prem. 6' 2. Doesn't sound like he's a Fernandinho type player though.

Oh how we could do with a Fernandinho in his pomp in midfield right now.

Swiss

I don't know much about him, but he's <30 so woukd at least be able to run around a bit

Hesperus

Last day of the transfer window. Not looking promising for that midfielder (or 2) we've clearly been crying out for since about September!

If we don't pull something out of the hat I would say it's been another poor window for us. 2 kids signed that I doubt will play much for the remainder of the season. Only Marmoush is a first teamer.

Fingers crossed we are able to get a deal done or it's going to be a hard slog to the end of the season.

reddishblue

Looks we've got him.

Swiss

He's not going to fix the team over night, but will hopefully offer the defence some extra protection.

Disappointed we didn't get an experienced full back. Not sure why were not using Issa Kabore...

reddishblue

gavin

He's confirmed. At last the big priority fulfilled. It would have been a crime not to sign someone there.

Hesperus

So all done then. Great to sign a midfielder and attacker to replace Alvarez.

Defence is still a major concern though for me. We've arguably weakened, given we've let Walker go on loan with no replacement. Nunez is no RB.

For me this season so far it's been the suicidal mistakes(leading to goals) that have cost us in defence and that has permeated into a drop in confidence for the rest of the team.

In the past We've had defenders who are quality on the ball, comfortable and able to pass. That has gone this season but we're still trying to play out from the back as normal, we're making bad mistakes leading to goals.

I can't see that changing much for the remainder of the season, even with the new signings.

Swiss

I don't know ow why we haven't recalled Issa Kabore....

KunDB

It's my view that it is generally accepted this season had fine, we screwed up in the summer transfer window, but not refreshing the team and improving the all round age profile. A serious and silly mistake, but it happens.

With this acceptance comes forward planning, we are now building for next season. It takes at least 6 months for players to settle in and now that will happen over the second half of this season, so we will be better ready for next season.

Still feel we need to up our game in defence during the summer transfer window and but at least one super solid defender for right back, and maybe even another one.

In future, we have to monitor and keep our age profile week balanced.
