Premier League clubs have voted to close next summer's transfer window before the 2018-19 season starts; buying activity will cease on 9 August for the 2018-19 season.

In principle good.

Not at all sure this is a good idea, a bit half baked as the clubs will not be able to buy but can sell players. As I read it, this means a key player for a club (e.g. Coutinho) could be poached/unsettled by a big offer from a big European club after the window in England closes but before the European window closes 31 August. The English club would not be able to replace them with an experienced current PL player.

Apparently City voted against this change.

I was wondering about that! So now I know.

Apparently City voted against this change.

wonder why as City usually have their transfer business done early in the transfer window.
