CITY XI: Ederson, Walker (C), Stones, Akanji, Gvardiol, Lewis, Gundogan, Bernardo, Savinho, Foden, Haaland

Subs: Ortega, Ake, Grealish, De Bruyne, Nunes, Wright, Simpson-Pusey, O'Reilly, McAtee

It looks like Lewis in midfield. Big win needed.

Stephen Paul

Big response required from City this evening

Rodri walked onto the pitch without a limp to pick up the Balon D'or which was good.

Hesperus

Please remind me how much we paid for our defence?

Amateur stuff at the back. Gvardial far too weak on the left and no one tracking Maddison??

We are really struggling now.

Hesperus

What has gone wrong with this team? We look bottom half at best. 2-0. That's game over.

gavin

Started well enough but then the classic combination of not being able to finish and not being able to defend set in. Fairly typical stuff of late I'm afraid.

KunDB

All round we are just too lightweight. Rodri provided physicality in midfield, this midfield is lightweight and dysfunctional.

Pep needs to accept is not working and change the structure of this team.

C'mon City

Hesperus

These performances actually aren't acceptable. I know we've had injuries but Pep needs to do better here. We can't get dicked and home like this.

KunDB

Not a defeat, an utter humiliation.

Pep needs to change tact and go into the transfer market in January.

It's still great to be a blue.

I blame Haaland as much as anyone. The defence is woeful and deserves to be vilified but Haaland should be scoring a couple tonight and we'd have been in the game. There's no-one who comes out of that with credit though. Bernard, Foden and Savinho were also awful.

reddishblue

I want another international break...

Hesperus

How have we become so bad? Something seems seriously wrong at the club.

Certain players are performing well below their ability.

What is happening?

City 0 - 5 other's.  We are not perfect and cannot win them all. I'm not worried by any means nor making excuses. This run had to happen at some point, it could be o-6 after next week. To be honest this run of not winning is long overdue, remember,  last time we lost to Spurs we went on a run of 20+ games winning streak, so here' hoping, but I can't see it. The season is not over by a long way, we will still do well. Perhaps we may not win the league but to day's City is a far cry from the days of going to Mansfield, York, as I did as a young girl: my first City experience: league 2.
We will see Headlines 'City in Crises' and similar ones by all those arseholes and media who hate City, which I believe  to be untrue. Our not winning streak is part of a natural progression process or fate as some may say.
Remember, City have come a long way since 97 when I first flew into Manchester with my parents to see City v Backpool. A City team not winning in 5 games was common in those days but we bounced back! This time we have nothing to bounce back from - we can still look to the future. No point in trying to lay the blame on players or Peps tactics, it is happening and we need to live with it, accept it, for it will change.

Why Pep didn't make earlier substitutions is a mystery. And why on earth did they water the pitch at half-time when it pissed down all day? Unless they were trying to get the match abandoned through a water-logged pitch!

Stephen Paul

Difficult times at the moment , Pep looks disjointed and unhappy

Hopefully a result next week against the dippers will lift the squad

I think we need to chill and not overreact.
It will get sorted.

The defence is vulnerable because we play a high line and our midfield is too weak and dysfunctional. The set up just does not work in midfield. No physicality, no creativity.

Savinho is good, but all too often gives the ball away needlessly exposing our high line defence and he cannot score goals.

Foden is only playing in flashes.

Silva is firing on a missing cylinder.

Lewis is great going forward but not defending.

Gundogan is just gone. DeBruyne is fading through injury and age.

All of them lack physicality and too often go missing when the going gets tough.

Stones is sleeping on the pitch.

Gvardiol is lightweight in defence, no physical presence.

The injuries don't help but are no excuse.

The manager and players need to ask themselves why are they weak as water.

Walker is finished. It was embarrassing watching our defenders standing off as the Spurs players attacked (while taking their time and dawdling). Kyle Walker just strolled as Timno Werner run past him to set up their fourth goal.

Totally embarrassing and pathetic, no effort to put him off crossing. Every one of our defenders do that these days, stand back and let the attacker attack unhindered.

Something is going on within the team behind closed doors.

We are playing to feed Haaland to score so the other team just close down on him. No one else can score with any consistency other than Haaland, who is misfiring currently. All too one dimensional.

Stephen Paul

4-0 home defeat by a very average team is worrying

gavin

At least the rags failed to win. Lets see if we can finish above them again this season.
