All of a sudden, there is a 5cm 'tolerance level'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cn98d0yzzn8o

QuoteIn every other competition, offside is given to the millimetre; in the Premier League there is 5cm grace which is effectively the width of the green line.

QuoteGuimaraes, too, was just ahead of Dias but within the tolerance level.

So, yes, he was offside. This tolerance level also seems to be rather selectively applied.

Off side decisions should be decided by where your foot is, not by waving to your mum in the crowd or scratching your bollocks imo

Quote from: gavin on November 22, 2025, 23:26:09Regarding the early penalty on Phil, he had taken his shot and muffed it. I could kind of see why they wouldn't give it because of that. But then it is a late tackle and a foul in the box is a penalty. The excuse given that there was not enough contact was just laughable. There was more than enough.

If that was their excuse it is laughable. Also, Foden had to rush good shot because he would have seen the tackle was incoming.

It was a penalty all day every day.

I think the three penalties should have been given, their second goal should have been ruled offside. Poor refereeing of that match allowed Newcastle to continually foul our players. Even then the very minimum we deserved was a draw, and really we should have won all three points.

It's very difficult to get the rhythm going in a match that the officials allow continual fouling and physicality and ignore penalties. I would have like a bit more urgency earlier after their second goal.

But overall I think we played well, except for a few average performances and really poor finishing, which was awful and ultimately cost us the points.

Very disappointing that. We're better this season but I Think we'll get these results every now and then. Better but not good enough.

Very poor, with a big chance to close the gap

Sometimes I wonder
