So who is being shown the door and who is coming in?
Out-Mendy and Sterling for me
Fernandinho released! Gutted.
That’s pissed me off more than the CL final!
Might have spoke too soon. He’s just been put on the PL list players to be released before next season.
There’s still time for him to sign a new contract! Come on City, make it happen!
I think Fernandinho will get another year. Mendy could well be gone. I think Sterling will stay, bad form but he's been a great player for us. A striker is a must but I'd prefer a younger player than Kane. We don't need a lot of players. We were very near to the quad.
Fernandinho another year would be awesome
Everyone loves this guy
The Kane/Haaland decision is a bit of a swings and roundabouts thing - Kane would be overpriced and has possible fitness concerns but equally Haaland doesn't strike me as a player who would stay more than 3 or 4 years at City before moving on, especially with Raiola as his agent.
Haaland impressed me when played against City
He floored Dias which is unheard of this season
Fernandinho will be still here next season.
I think we need best of the best. Mbappe, Neymar. That would be making a real statement.
We can’t be European champions shopping for players at M&S or John Lewis we need to shop at Fortnum and Masons and Harrods.
We will be lucky to attract the best. Despite our success in reaching the final, we are not yet feeding at the top table, (Thanks Pep).....
Probably be some action in the market once England get knocked out in the group stages ;)
Sterling, Mahrez and Jesus to go. Mahrez I have never liked, a flat track bully. He was bobbins in the champions league. Sterling has two years left on his contract, I dont think he will renew. Jesus, works hard, but will always be a bit part player for us. If he stays, great, but should move on for his career.
If we let Jesus go then we need another striker and we don't need the cost when we are already in the market for one striker. Jesus does a good job and is a good worker.
Sterling just been honoured in the Queens list.....

Good for him.He deserves it.Be nice to get a few quid and cash in on him.
I'd take the geeman left back gosens. He looked quality going forward
Sterling has been good for us ,but I would let him go , would do well a West Ham
Surely Mendy must be on his bike. A nice, happy, smiley bloke and I'm sure he is good company. A bloody liability at left-back, though
It's quiet at the moment but I am sure things will get busy after the Euros
£100mil bid put in for Kane apparently.
Pep and Khaldoon need to give their heads a wobble.
Big shout at 100m
Guess we will be part exing a player or or two. Who to trade in? Sterling is from London, would placate the Spurs fans. Big step down, might not fancy it.
Players in , Kane
Players out , Sterling, Jesus , Silva
You're a big fan of Mendy are you Stevie? Haha
Forgot about him 😂
We can't let a striker go if we sign a striker. It needs to be another striker. I'd be a lot more excited about Haaland than Kane. I prefer long term signings.
A good four years left in Kane but also has had a few knocks
Haaland long term definitely yes
The problem with Haaland is he could end up at the rags or Chelsea

I suspect he may disappear on loan to try and build his price back up
I like the list, but would bin Stones and keep Laporte. I would like us to sign Bellingham, DM?
But surely the Dias Stones partnership will continue.
Stones is coming out of his shell and into the form of his life.
He should get stronger and a better reading of the ball as he gets older. Not saying Laporte won't, but he hasn't clicked with Dias in the same way.
Also, my 1 criticism of Laporte is his communication. I don't think he does enough of it on the pitch.
Bellingham is a good option, but more traditional Box to box than DM isn't he?
Im not sure about Grealish. He's always going down under a challenge and it would break our play up.Free kick after free kick.
Why do people talk like we only need one striker and two centre halves? Football is a squad game. Injuries and poor form happen. We should keep the centre halves we have if we can. We should keep Jesus AND sign another striker.
Am I the only one who still likes Raheem?
Nope, there's little point arguing that he had some poor form last season but that is what it was. He will come good again.

My personal view of Raheem’s 2020/21 form is that he really missed David Silva, who was always able to pick him out with accurate angles around the opposition box. This was clearly something that Pep had worked on a lot with the pair of them, and was very effective. Obviously that’s gone for good. But Raheem hasn’t become a worse player; his way of contributing to the team will have to change. That’s Pep’s job; can’t believe he’s not working on it.
Yes Bellingham, round peg. Worried Stones will relapse, Laporte would improve virtually any team. If he was to go to Los Blancos or elsewhere abroad, fine. He wont stay as a bench warmer.
Sterling is playing well against some poor opposition. Wont get a kick in the next game, hope I am proved wrong.
We need a LB. Robin Gosen, LB at Atalanta and having a fine run in the euros def a square peg to fit a square hole, and Lukaku for a striker.....
Yes for Goosen, been very impressed with him. Would be a very good acquisition.
Lots of noise about Grealish today..100 milion..WOW

Bellingham certainly played well against us in the first leg but faded in the 2nd leg(i think they took him off)
I dont know much about him.I dread to think of his price tag though.
Jack Grealish rumours getting stronger
For me LB and Striker are a priority over Grealish.
If Grealish is to come, can’t see Bernardo staying.
If Grealish and Kane arrive at City I personally think England will win the world Cup under Pep
There's no question Grealish is a talented player. He does, however, have a history of partying, nitrous oxide use, driving bans etc.He is like a Brummie Balotelli .I am not sure Pep would tolerate that type of behavior
Mendy?
Reece James name popping up this morning
I think Reece James is quality, but no way Chelsea are selling to us.
Also, we don't need a RB. Smacks of agents trying to get a better deal.
I quite like James Justin at Leicester, but again, no need for a RB.
Grealish has been deleting his old anti city tweets yesterday. What an absolute pleb.

Fucking twot
He might be a handful this lad
I would still keep Sterling at least until the next transfer window.....Forgt Kane, to old and injury prone, everybody targets his ankles
Whatever happened that young Barcelona player ‘Messy’ who was definitely positively without a doubt leaving Barcelona. And, if the press are to be believed was definitely on his way to City this summer. Just as he was every summer he wanted to renegotiate his Barcelona contract. So beat this in mind with all the press transfer rumours buckshot this summer.
Speculation in the press that the Greaslish deal has already been done for 88 mill
Ryan Bertrand is a free agent. Worth a go as he's well experienced in the EPL and a simple LB for Mendy, and back up to Zink. Oh, and home grown too.

Kane and Grealish still both heavily linked. Can’t say I was impressed with either during the euros. Kane in particular looked leggy.
Be interesting to see if we sign anyone of any note this window. Traditionally after we’ve won the title we’ve recruited poorly.
Seen Griezman and even Ronaldo quotes for coming in. For me Rodri isnt all that and resigning Dinho was a must. Signing a Dinho clone should be a priority.
They just said on Chris Evans' breakfast show on Virgin Radio that Kane has signed. 400k per week.
Nothing on Sky Sports though
Seen £160 million quoted as cost??? I hope his ankles are insured.
160 million
Holy good fuck !!!
Surprised it has not been billed as £160Bn.
The press is full of bullshit and we seldom ever find out the true cost or contract terms and conditions. From Spurs point of view the price has to be super-hyped to provide cover for selling their star player to an opponent. For all we know £60m cold be performance linked for phased payment, e.g. City winning CL could spark a payment, or Harry scoring 30 goals in a season could spark a payment. Who knows, and quite frankly I don't think City fans should particularly care and just leave finance to the club executives.
I couldn't care less how much a player costs or what salary they are on.
I just really don't think he fits our style of play at all.

A lot of hot air and nothing concrete so far. It is not looking good on transfers this summer. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't sign anyone now.
We will definitely sign players and sell players but it’s a game of cat and mouse for now.
Patience needed until near the close of this transfer window I reckon.

Grealish in Manchester today for medical apparently
BBC Sport
Manchester City are closing in on the £100m signing of Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish.
A deal could be concluded in time for the England midfielder to play in the Community Shield against Leicester City on Saturday.
The move for the 25-year-old would make it a British record.
The fee for him would surpass the £89m Manchester United paid to re-sign France midfielder Paul Pogba from Juventus in 2016.
Grealish is set to make the move after returning to pre-season training w
Grealish spotted in Mary D's having a quick pint 🙃
The smell of boiling piss will be rife when we get Grealish
He will be the most hated player in England with the help of the media
Can you imagine if we actually managed to sign Kane as well after his antics. I think you'd have to level up beyond boiling piss.
Will be boiling piss when we break the transfer record in the UK.The fee we paid Wolves for Steve Daley seems pence now.
I can’t see any way we’ll sign Kane now. Levy has said 150 million and he won’t move on that even if he totally pisses Kane off. Levy doesn’t care about people at all so that’s will be the amount and I don’t believe we’d be daft Enough to go to that figure.
Levy is a hardened negotiator striving to get every penny he can get. He would be very foolish to get stuck with a dissatisfied player/captain. It will go right to the wire and be sorted with clever wording and add ons written into the deal so it appears Levi has won.
Messi just left Barcelona
Going to the rags apparently
Breaking news
Barcelona say Lionel Messi will not be staying at the club "because of financial and structural obstacles".
Messi, 34, has been a free agent since 1 July when his contract expired.
He agreed a new deal on reduced wages with club two weeks later, but it was dependent on Barca selling players to afford his salary.
"Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled," the club said.
Barcelona said Messi was poised to extend his 21-year career with the club by signing the deal on Thursday, and blame La Liga for the failure to do so.
"Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles [Spanish La Liga regulations]," the club said.
"FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses its gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life."
Barca must be skint
Grealish finally confirmed by the club. Great news
Let’s forget about Messi, I say.
It is going to be an interesting few weeks to come. Very surprised about Messi. But apparently Barca are blaming La Liga's equivalent of FFP for him not signing.
No doubt Messi has a couple of seasons left in him but not at City
Boiling piss
Rags spend 89 million , good investment
City spend 100 million on Grealish , buying the league
The mind boggles
Kane to return to Spuds training on Saturday.
Phew!
Dodged a bullet there!
I only just clocked that all the fuss about Messi not being able to sign as a free agent for Barca also applies to Sergio (and to Eric Garcia too). That’s a real shame.
I still think we'll sign Kane.Looks like Silva is off to Spain and Jesus to Juve!
Messi gone to PSG so maybe Kun will end up there aswell.
Reports Aguero not happy about Messi and wanting out of Barcelona
What is it with the Argies ?
I don't think Sergio bears any blame at all for the financial situation at Barcelona, and when it came to the crunch Messi agreed a new contract that would have kept him at the club on a lower salary. I don't think "the Argies" are responsible for the catastrophic financial management that has led to Barcelona's current woes. It's not the players' fault.
Does anyone know why Barca can’t keep Messi or sign aguero? If Messi is on a reduced contract what’s the difference to last season? This all seems very strange. PSG seem the winners though, if they do sign Messi they have the best team on the planet and should be certs for the CL. Which won’t make Pep very happy.
Barcelona must be in big financial difficulties
Apparently, La Liga has its own form of FFP and Barcelona can't fit Messi into their budget to meet that. Therefore they are blaming La Liga.
Interesting, so this could be a power play between Barca and la Liga.
What a joke, that Tebas guy who seems to have a personal vendetta against us now looks like a prize dick! Even more of a prize dick I should say.
This video briefly explains what's happened.
https://youtu.be/g6AOWHsO1Ck
It sounds like Barca knew they couldn't afford Messi but wanted special treatment from the league. They probably thought with them being one of the big guns and Messi being the biggest draw for the league then they would get that. Fair play to the league if that's the case.
Apparently Messi has signed for PSG but I'll believe that when I see it. He's making an announcement on Sunday.
I'm glad City finally managed to keep their distance from him this time.
But yes if Messi does actually leave Barca, then I reckon he'll take Kun with him.
Or maybe Kun will come back to Pep? Hmmm.

“Obviously money could be an issue,†said the 50 year-old. “The chairman is prepared to push the boat out and give Lionel a generous dry cleaning allowance, and use of a 2014 Ford Fiesta on the weekends. So long as he throws a few quid of petrol into it.â€
“The ball’s in Lionel’s court now,†he added.

Great player
The defender said he could not be happier and working with manager Pep Guardiola was a "dream".
Positive vibes going around about the Harry Kane transfer.
From my point of view the fact that Spurs and Levy have not told City to do one, he’s our player is the biggest clue a deal can and probably will be done. So it’s all down to money, agreeing a transfer fee.
We might not have to wait until the deadline day after all, could be that a deal is done very soon after City’s game against Spurs is out of the way.
I’m buzzing with hope and excitement as the outlook will be so good if this transfer happens.
Spurs for me are a club on the slide and without Kane they will struggle
Jesus might go to spurs as part of the deal if Kane comes to man city.
We need two strikers minimum. Jesus must stay.
Jesus played back up for Aguero and would now be back up for Kane
Not sure if he would be up for that
I get the feeling that in a a different team setup Jesus could flourish. I think it is very hard for any striker to excel in a Pep team, defend, do midfield duties etc. I’m hoping Kane is not unduly affected by this.
The Guardian reports (https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/aug/12/manchester-city-ready-to-pay-150m-to-sign-harry-kane-from-tottenham) that City are prepared to pay 150m euros for Kane. Maybe this is a smart move, if City can afford that much and it is within FFP. Either Spurs accept, and Kane moves; or Spurs don't accept, which seems likely to mightily piss off their star player, and also to discourage other players from signing long-term contracts with Spurs. Levy is always portrayed as a tough negotiator, but there must be a way to put him on the spot... and anyway, if he's so great, how come Spurs are so crap?

Pep and Txixi are professional and know what they are doing. They’ll have a back up plan in case the Kane transfer doesn’t go through. It will mind.
Torres upfront would be my guess at a contingency plan. It’s not a great option though at the moment as he isn’t ready.
Reports are either £127 mill for Kane with add ons to make it £147 million.
I still don’t believe we’ll go that high but It begs the question, if we are willing to go that high, I would hope we’d offer that for Harland. Dortmund said they won’t sell, but next season he has a much lower release clause (80 mill I think?) So they would be daft not to accept such a big offer now.
Still a while before the window closes. This could run and run.
Kane hasn't travelled with the Spuds squad for their Euro tie tomorrow night
That Kane did not travel was inevitable and I suspect he might pick up a minor training injury putting him out for this weekend Wolves fixture too.
He’s coming to City, just a matter of money.
I wouldn't be surprised either way but I'm pleased there's only a couple of weeks left. I have to confess that I got rather enthused when we eventually got Grealish though.

If Manchester City fail to secure Kane this summer, the Premier League champions are said to considering Serbian international Dusan Vlahovic, 21, as an alternative. City have reportedly joined the race to sign the Fiorentina striker for 80m euros.
Sign Vlahovic and leave Levy and Spurs saddled with a very unhappy striker.
How I wish we would do that...

Cant see Ronaldo, Juve will want a fortune and hes too old.
6 days for the window to shut...Get Haaland now and stop pissing about.
Very disappointing and predictable outcome on Kane I think.
I imagine we’ll stick with what we’ve got now and I doubt that’s enough to win the CL.
Minus Sergio and Plus Grealish. Given Sergio's injuries last season, I don't think that we've gone backwards. We made the final last year so I don't see why we can't again and win it this time. Still a few days to sign a striker regardless. Delap will come into the mix if we don't.
It's a bit of a balls up considering the chairman told us we would be getting a striker the day after we lost the chumps league.
Disappointed about the whole Kane Saga
Move on and win the league
Surely we’ll sign a LB now Mendy is suspended by the club?
It was inexplicable to me we weren’t trying to sign one as it was, but this situation must mean we need one now!
Cancelo and Zinchenko can do a good job for us again. Mendy isn't a great loss from a footballing perspective only.

All the players mentioned can do a job at LB but none are specialised LBs. it’s been a problem position for years, Chelsea targeted wit during the CL final to good effect and other teams will, and have done too. We’d just be so much stronger at the back with a really good LB. it’s a no brainier for me but clearly the club feel different.
News about Ronaldo joining is growing in confidence.
Still very unsure about this, I truly despised the prancing, preening, prima Donna whilst at Utd and his personality has never changed at other clubs.
At 36 his is not the same player despite his exceptional physical condition, but he’s still a very, very good player, will certainly raise the clubs profile and we need a striker…….Jeez, I think I may have talked myself around!
Unsure why we're not going all out for Haaland
There are rumours he (Haarland) is demanding £850k per week.
I think the deal with Bayern for next season is probably already done. Although he would have been my first choice over Kane and all others.
Ronaldo is such a rag to the core that he has just stabbed every Utd fan in their hearts, by wanting to join us and ignoring Utd. Oh I feel their pain so much more than my detest.
I couldn't give a shite who used to play for who. He's a top player and would improve any team in the world.
So - let me get this straight.... on the same day one of our players is charged with 4 counts of rape, we appear to be thinking of signing another alleged rapist (paid his alleged victim off)?
I am fucking disgusted.
Max Allegri, Juventus coach, has confirmed that Ronaldo is leaving Juventus.
QuoteI'm absolutely not disappointed, because Cristiano took his own decision. Everything comes and goes in life. At Juventus, we had Omar Sivori, Michel Platini, Alessandro Del Piero, Zinedine Zidane, Gianluigi Buffon, some great champions and even better managers. It's one of the laws of life. But Juventus will always be here, that's the most important thing, the most solid foundation to get the results. He was here for three years, he gave his contribution, he put himself at Juventus' disposal, and now he's leaving and life goes on as it should.

Grealish a great signing but even my deceased granny could have bought him at the buyout clause terms.
Otherwise, this transfer window has been a massive embarrassment and failure for City. Not so unusual we seem totally inept and inferior in this regard to other big clubs.
Time to give the academy strikers and others their big chance.
Confirmed by City ronaldo is not coming. Utd in advanced talks to sign him.
I think it’s fair to say that unless we pull something out of the bag before end of the window this transfer window has been very poor for us.
Hmmmmm, I'm not sure that the club that has won three out of the last four titles should be described as inept and inferior in the transfer market. We make mistakes and sometimes struggle to get the players that we want like every other club. But the measure of success in the transfer market is titles.
It seems to me that we had two main targets, got one (Grealish) and failed to get the other (Kane). With Levy refusing to negotiate at all for Kane then I fail to see what else could have been done there. Maybe there was an issue with targetting Kane in the first place, that I could agree with to an extent. But if it was him who Pep really wanted then we had to do what we could to get him.
The Ronaldo thing is a bit of a joke really. A lot of press talk and maybe we would have taken him if he was offered to us but really I suspect that we've just been used to get him out of Juventus. I'm not upset at 'losing out' there. 36 and not really a part of our plans.
Thank fook for that..Cant believe we were linked with that cnut.

There are rumours he (Haarland) is demanding £850k per week.
I think the deal with Bayern for next season is probably already done. Although he would have been my first choice over Kane and all others.
Ahh. Forgot about the additional Mino Raiola madness element.
I did not see how Ronaldo fitted the team and the work expected. He is like a Dzeko signing these days, a threat off the bench, great in the air. One signing, Grealish, is that enough impetus and pressure on the other players. No. I could see us missing out on the league and the champions league. Looks like its the Rumbelows only this year.
We still have the best manager in the league by far so anything is possible this season but if we look at our summer transfer business compared to our rivals, I don’t think we’ve had a good window. Still a couple of days to go though as Pep said anything could happen.
I doubt we’ll get a striker now, but im still hoping for a LB.
Maybe Bernardo out the door before the window shuts..I hope not.
Looks likes no one else coming in.
I'm glad the window is shut and it makes me laugh that newsnow is still full of links about transfers but now talking about who we will be signing in January and even next summer. The last couple of matches we have been fine without a striker but there is bound to be another game like Spuds away which will be followed by an outcry of they should have bought a striker. We should remember that many teams with strikers draw a blank. The ultimate measure of our season will be the title. If we retain it then we've done a good job.
Grealish will help us. He already seems to be adding a different, more dynamic option. He will grow over the coming months too. So far, he has looked a top notch signing to me.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have seen us sign a striker. But not at any cost. We must win the title. If we do then we were definitely better not to pay over the odds for Kane or Ronaldo. Even if we don't win the title then it still might not be so bad in the long term. We refused to pay the money for VVD and it probably cost us the title in 2020. But then we got Ruben and won in 2021.
I think Grealish will be a great player, but I don’t think attacking midfielder was a position we really needed to strengthen. We clearly wanted Kane, so not securing a striker has to be seen as a fail and the entire pursuit seemed fake to me. The management team also clearly don’t see left back as a problem position.
Let’s see what Pep can do this season with them, as Gav said that’s the real test.
The PL will be much more competitive and I hate to say it but Ronaldo could be a game changer for them.
The CL will be tough again and PSG should walk it given their recruiting this summer.
Not getting Kane was a clear failure and I put it down to our seemingly strict policy of assessing a players price then refusing to pay above this assessment.
That’s fine with most players but when you want the very top players you need to be flexible and expect to pay a premium. Go in hard and early should be the lesson learned for future bids for top players eg Haaland type players.
So lets be clear here. How much would you have paid for Kane? There has to be a limit. Sticking to a sensible policy is not failure.
Even if we had no limit, there is no guarantee that Spurs would have sold anyway. Look at the Madrid bid for Mbappe, which seems crazy money for a player into the last season of his contract. Still, PSG said no.
We have to be realisitic. Sometimes, we won't be able to get better players than we have.
We were dealing from the start with Levy who prides himself on being a hard nut. With three years remaining on Kane’s contract, and no buyout clause (family agents! - amateurs), it was always in Levy’s hands. We had little choice but to pay his price, like it or not.
Only other alternative drop Kane as a target. Waiting so late in window to make a final bid and no other iron in the fire was a failure (of strategy).
Let’s hope lessons are learned.
Still think we have a seismic squad and will win PL.
Pep was always prepared not to sign a striker. He was clear about that throughout. He's not going to sign a player for the sake of it.

I’m sure that’s correct, Pep is addicted to midfielders (and thankfully success).
