How long does Pellegrini have now?

Out of the last 11 matches, we have won 4 drawn 3 and lost 4. Mid table form. It has to improve soon or it could cost us. I don't think Pellegrini has any new ideas. We might click into gear into attack but he won't be able to sort the defence out as he hasn't all season. New ideas could be very handy at this stage.

I wouldn't put much money on Pellegrini being manager at the end of the season at this rate. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he went this week and I wouldn't argue with such a decision.

I think they'll stick by him until the end of the season but he, along with our transfer dealers, are on a short rope.

We still need to qualify for Champions league, and frankly do you trust him to do that?

If he's going just get rid right now, the only reason to keep him in these last few games would be that he's going to be at the helm next season.

After how previous managers have been moved on and the reasons given I can't see how his position is tennable.

Not a fan of getting rid of managers but Pelle is to blame for this decline.

Needless player rotation, poor tactics and set up, poor defence and free kicks and corners. All in all poor organisation.

Needs to go but not but no panic will wait until summer.

Txixi and Ferriano need to face a serious inquest and Pelles replacement needs to be a manager not a coach; that is picks transfer targets and team.

I think we panicked a bit in the last summer transfer window and ended up getting shafted for Mangala and Fernando.

Coaching's got to be a problem too; we've no coherent structure to our play at times and our defence has turned to shit.

Unless there is an Advocaat type manager waiting to take over for the rest of the season, Pelle must surely be the best bet until the last fixture.

Hard to second-guess our owners on this one. Play it 'safe' and grimly hang on to Pellegrini in the hope we can still drag ourselves over the line in second or third place, or take a massive punt on a caretaker manager reinvigorating the team?

A bad lose to the rags and I'm sure the owners will be sorely tempted to ditch Pellers right then and there. Not because it's the rags, but because another defeat might make a top four finish start to look vulnerable.

A lot might depend on how Liverpool go against Newcastle on the Monday. If City slump at the swamp and Liverpool win I would not be surprised if Pellegrini is sacked on the Tuesday. But that will mean a caretaker manager and either way I think that's a big, high risk call. I wonder if the owners will have the balls to do it?

Sticking with Pellegrini might be the safer option. Not an option that fills me with any joy (ultimately, I think he has to go sooner rather than later) but personally I remain unconvinced that Liverpool are good enough (or City quite that bad enough) for them to close a 7 point gap, so fourth still looks relatively safe to me.

However, if our sole ambition now is just to consolidate fourth spot (and the prospect of a qualifying play off) than that's a very sorry state of affairs and really not good enough. Maybe we should have the courage to gamble? Bring in Viera (he'd me my first choice as well) and stir the buggers up. Not sure how he'll go, but I think a lot of the players will respect him and equally he won't take any shit from the egomaniacs. There will be blood on the carpet I think, with one or two never being seen in a City shirt again - but maybe some blood letting is what we need?

Interesting times. I'm still expecting a big upturn in our fortunes, perhaps it will be against the rags. I do think Pelle has lost control of things, it depends a lot on whether his experience will get us through the remaining however many games. I'm always positive (once I've cooled down) but I'm always aware that managers of middle eastern clubs get fired every week, and the Sheik won't give a second thought to whatever he thinks necessary

What is clear is some of our mega signings are anything other than mega and someone has to be held to account for a disasterous transfer policy not just Pelle.

Having no manager would yield better results, how does he still have a job? Ridiculous.

The future is looking grim, as carragher said - the squad needs replacing big time. City have the funds, but are not able to spend. And have spent BIG money on players not delivering at all. Many players need to go, the problem is city won't get shit for them. While buying new players city style always costs more than it's worth. How can city renew their squad?

It all seems to be hotting up in the press this morning- I really like Pellegrini, but for teh life of me there is 1 thing I can't understand. Remember when we had all those strikers out and we had to play 4-5-1 or at times 4-6-0? We were brilliant and went on a great run- as soon as the strikers are back we go 442 and since then we have been shite!

We bossed the midfield in those games with the extra numbers and moved Silva into a more central role from where he scored 4 goals in 6 games IIRC.
